TJ: Hello! Welcome to Author Spotlight where both new and veteran authors share a little about themselves and their work. Today we have author Emmy Tidning. Let’s get into it. Care to tell readers us about yourself?
Emmy Tidning: Hi! Thanks so much for having me!
Although I use my Midwest hometown as inspiration for my stories, I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my hubby, babies, and fur babies. Aside from being an author I’m also a full-time fortune teller and divination expert.
TJ: What inspired you to get into writing?
Emmy Tidning: I was desperate for more romance stories I could relate to, but couldn’t find any books out there that were about fortune tellers and other occult practitioners falling in love! So I decided to write my own.
T.J.: Do you read work similar to your own or do you read a broad range of works?
Emmy Tidning: I read everything, but I obviously have a special place for romance novels. I’ve been reading them since I was a young girl in the Midwest. I had a conservative upbringing but managed to sneak racy and illicit stories from my hometown library. I was just so in love with love, I knew romance was for me. I also have a special place for fantasy and paranormal stories, although I don’t really write in that genre.
T.J.: If you could meet someone famous living or dead, who would that be and why?
I would love to meet popular romance authors like Nora Roberts or Susan Stoker. They’re such prolific romance authors, it would be cool to learn how they manage their time and get all those books written in such a short amount of time! I need to know their secrets, and I also want to hear about their own love stories. I base a lot of my books on my own romantic life, I would like to know if they do as well. I love love!
T.J: You have a series called Second Sight Romances. Can you tell us about this series?
Emmy Tidning: Second Sight is another term for clairvoyance or ESP, so my Second Sight romance series features stories where the protagonist works as a divination, occult, or alternative therapy specialist. They often use their fortune telling or basic empathy skills to get to the bottom of what their love interest or the antagonist wants. It’s also a play on the fact that the meet-cute is the first meeting, but the second time they see each other is really the one where they start to fall for each other or the stories get interesting. It’s like love at second sight.
In Faye’s Fortune, Faith works as a fortune teller who is down on her luck. She meets a cute construction worker and foresees some ominous ends for him.
The second novel, Charlie’s Chill should be out by summer 2021. Charlotte is a Reiki massage therapist who is forced to work as a bartender to cover her bills, and she and the bar owner get into some less than relaxing situations. Everyone could use a massage in Charlie’s Chill!
