TJ: Hello! Welcome to Author Spotlight where both new and veteran authors share a little about themselves and their work. Today we have Paranormal Women’s Fiction author L.A. Boruff. Let’s get into it. Care to tell readers us about yourself?
L.A.: Hello! I’m a wife and mother and more recently, author. I live in East Tennessee with my family and four cats.
TJ: What inspired you to become a writer?
L.A.: I wrote in high school, way too many years ago. I had a creative writing teacher who told me my writing was trite. So I stopped. I never stopped reading. In fact, I was what we call a whale reader. I can easily read 2-3 books in a day if I don’t have other things going on. I read the last Harry Potter book in 6 hours, if that tells you anything.
Anyway, in my mid 30’s, I joined a fan fiction group for a particular series that I was in love with, and they encouraged me to write FF. I did, one short one, and it was well received. I decided then if I was going to write, it was going to be the many stories floating around in my head rather than a FF. So, the next month, I started writing and out came An Unseen Midlife, though at the time its name was Supay. It’s been renamed a couple of times. 😛
T.J.: If you could meet any person dead or alive, who would it be and why?
L.A.: My mother died in February of 2020. I’d give anything in this world for another day with her.
T.J: Now, is my favorite part of the interview, hearing all about your work. Can you tell readers about your Paranormal Women’s Fiction?
L.A.: Well, I got into PWF after the Fab 13 kick started this genre and I fell head over heels in love. Lia Davis and I wrote a ghoulish midlife and it went well, then the stories just wouldn’t stop coming. I’ve got… five series in PWF now, I think. They’re all funny and lighter than a normal UF or PNR. They all have romance, but most are romance-lite. The focus is on the plot and the journey of our forty-plus year old heroine. Though, two of my PWF series are steamier, they’re still plot heavy
TJ: I look forward to reading them. Thank you for visiting my blog. Hope to have you back again!
L.A.: Thank you for having me! I’m always down to talk about my books, especially my beloved newer genre of PWF, which is sometimes known as Paranormal Cozy.
