Book Review: Junkyard Bargain by Faith Hunter

Junkyard Bargain by Faith Hunter

Genre: Science Fiction
Subgenre: Dystopian

Series: Junkyard Cats #2

Romantic Subplot? It’s complicated.

Steam? No sex but there were steamy moments between the mc and her thrall, Jax, who isn’t completely thralled. Like I said, it’s complicated.

Plot: Shining Smith is looking for the murderer of her friend and needs to take down the other BORG QUEEN. That’s what I think the plot was. You might find other opinions elsewhere.

Hunter started this series with a narrow lens on Shining’s junkyard and personal predicament. The second “book” broadens the scope of the lens, showing more of the dystopian world hunter built.

I don’t mind being spoon fed a story, but this one didn’t have the same appeal as the first. It’s great world building, writing, and characters are more than they seem, but I didn’t love it. I’d say if you’re in it for the series, give it a listen. I’ll pick up the third installment when it drops.
