Camp NaNoWriMo Day 5: 20k words in a Month is totally doable

(What’s with the ducks? Traditionally Seattle writers placed rubber ducks in their writing space during NaNoWriMo.)

Old habits die hard.

It’s 10:30pm during NaNoWriMo and I’m working on my project. I save (backup) and quit, realizing this is Camp NaNo, and I can relax. My word count is less than one thousand words a day. I’m a little behind, but I’ll make my deadline.

This got me thinking that I should do a preorder for the fourth book. No cover. Just set a date. That will give me a definite deadline. After examining the outline, I decided this is a terrible idea.

The other novellas in the Faerie Tales Series were all about twenty thousand words, but I can’t fit all that’s going to happen in this story in that small of a framework. I think I’m looking at a full-length novel for the last book of the series. That’s going to take more than 20k, but we’ll see. A lot happens in the development of a story between outlining, drafting, and editing.

Today’s word count total: 3081

Charts are cool. Buddies are cooler. If you want to be NaNo buddies click here If clicking links isn’t your thing, search for Crimson Dragon and add me to your buddy list.

Hope you’re all doing well. Happy writing.
