ACoSF is marketed as Fantasy but if I was a purchasing editor at a publishing house, I’d ship this over to Erotica. Romance, Urban Fantasy, and even Fantasy include sex scenes, but when the sex scenes are so many and so graphic, we need to call it what it is.

Book Review: Dread Nation by Justina Ireland
Genre: Alternate History/Horror Romantic subplot? File the MC’s relationship status as single, yet ‘it’s complicated’. Steam? 0 (Kisses are mentioned, but this is NOT a kissing book) Plot: In this alternate history, the Civil War and slavery ended because people started rising from the dead. Jane was born around the time of the Battle of[…]
Book Review: Born in Fire (Demon Days, Vampire Nights World Book 1) by K.F. Breene
Genre: Urban Fantasy Series or standalone: Book 1 in the series Demon Days Vampire Nights Steam? Definite sexual tension, but no sex. Romantic subplot? Kinda. But, in a that’s a really bad idea kind of romance. The romantic interest is one of those guys (vampires) readers fantasize about reading paranormal romance but wouldn’t actually date.[…]
Review: A Vow So Bold and Deadly
A Vow So Bold and Deadly (Cursebreakers #3) by Brigid Kemmerer Genre: YA Fantasy Steam? Fade to black, but she knows how to make heavy petting poetic and erotic. Violence? This is the third book in a graphically violent series. Far more gore than nookie. Plot: Not going to lie. I looked forward to lyrical prose[…]
Indie Author Spotlight: Keepers and Destinies by Carl F. Brothers
Keepers & Destinies by Carl F Brothers Genre: Fantasy Stand alone or series? Book one of a series. Plot: Heaven and Hell both want to rule over Earth. Andrea is sent to Earth. There, she discovers a lot more is going on than she was told and hidden memories resurface. What I liked: Intricate world building.[…]
Book Review: Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews
Blood Heir (Aurelia Ryder #1) by Ilona Andrews Genre: Urban Fantasy/Dystopian Future Stand alone or series? Book one of a trilogy. Romantic Subplot? File that under “It’s complicated.” Steam? There was some sexual tension between the main character and her love interest. This is not a kissing book. Violence? Gory battle violence typical of the urban[…]
Review: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (anime)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge. I haven’t read this manga (waiting until comic book stores are open again to find the English version), but I’m watching season one of the anime on Netflix with my youngest. After watching most of season 1, I felt compelled to write[…]
Indie Author Spotlight: Delivering Evil for Experts by Annette Marie
Delivering Evil for Experts (The Guild Codex: Demonized #4) by Annette Marie If you’re not familiar with Annette Marie’s books, I’d start with Three Mages and a Margarita (The Guild Codes: Spellbound #1). The Spellbound books (8 total) and Demonized books (4 total) are parallel story lines in the same world that sometimes intersect. For reading[…]
Book Review: Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin
I am a sucker for fairy tale retellings done well. And I’m an absolute fool for Beauty and the Beast retellings.

Beware of her. Mind her. Death guards her like one of its own.”[…]
Fantasy Books I Want to Read in 2021
A Court of Silver Flames (A Court of Thorns and Rose #4) by Sarah J. Maas Although Nesta isn’t my favorite character out of the ACoTaR world, but Cassian is. I don’t want Nesta to soften, but I do want her to understand who her friends are. I can’t wait to reenter Maas’s world and see[…]
