Book Review: Born in Fire (Demon Days, Vampire Nights World Book 1) by K.F. Breene
Share
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Series or standalone: Book 1 in the series Demon Days Vampire Nights
Steam? Definite sexual tension, but no sex.
Romantic subplot? Kinda. But, in a that's a really bad idea kind of romance. The romantic interest is one of those guys (vampires) readers fantasize about reading paranormal romance but wouldn't actually date.
Plot: A supernatural bounty hunter with plenty to hide teams up with an elder vamp to find a demon mage, who wants to usurp the vampires' biggest secret.
What I liked: The book had a whiplash inducing pace with plenty of laugh out loud humor. I'm a sucker for a sarcastic mc, who blunders occasionally and shines spectacularly when she does roll out her full potential.
What I didn't like: Not much. I eat this kind of pulp urban fantasy like candy.
Recommend? If you like urban fantasy with a lot of absurd humor, witty dialogue, fully realized world building, go for it. K. F. Breene's Born in Fire will not disappoint.
