Review: A Vow So Bold and Deadly

A Vow So Bold and Deadly

(Cursebreakers #3)

by Brigid Kemmerer

Genre: YA Fantasy

Steam? Fade to black, but she knows how to make heavy petting poetic and erotic.

Violence? This is the third book in a graphically violent series. Far more gore than nookie.

Plot: Not going to lie. I looked forward to lyrical prose and heartbreaking plot twists. I'm twenty-one chapters in and I've decided to not finish. It is well-written, but I'm 45, and not Kemmerer's target audience. The first two books had angst along with compelling plot, but 21 chapters of angst and self-doubt with little story is a DNF for me.

Recommend? This is a 'me' problem, not Kemmerer's writing. I've been reading very plot-driven narratives lately. I'm not in a headspace to listen to teens whine in their heads and mull over their parents' choices and how it is affecting their current relationships.
